The École Militaire Interarmes (EMIA) is one of the training schools of the Cameroonian Army responsible for training officers through internal recruitment (former reserve officers, non-commissioned officers, or enlisted soldiers).

General Conditions

• Admission by competitive entrance exam.
• Entry levels: Baccalaureate (GCE Advanced Level) or Bachelor’s/Engineering degree.

Conditions for Trunk A

• Must be Cameroonian by nationality
• Age: 18–23 years
• Holder of:
  • Baccalaureate (any series) OR
  • GCE A/L with 3 subjects (with proof of 1 successful year in higher education)
• Must be single with no dependents
• Must enjoy civil rights
• Must be of good moral character
• Must be in good health

Conditions for Trunk B1

• Must be Cameroonian by nationality
• Age: Maximum 30 years
• Holder of:
  • Baccalaureate (any series except religion) OR
  • GCE A/L with 3 subjects OR
  • Equivalent diploma
• Must be in good health
• Must have at least 5 years of service

Conditions for Trunk B2(b)

• Must be Cameroonian by nationality
• Age: Maximum 32 years
• Holder of a higher education diploma
• Must be in good health
• Must have at least 5 years of service

Conditions for Trunk C

• Must be Cameroonian by nationality
• Age: Maximum 26 years
• Holder of an engineering diploma in one of the following:
  • Computer Science
  • Civil Engineering
  • Electronics
  • Telecommunications

  OR a higher education diploma in one of the following:

  • Law
  • Economics
  • Management
  • Mathematics
  • Psychology
  • Natural Sciences
• Must enjoy civil rights
• Must be of good moral character
• Must be in good health

Conditions for Trunk D(b)

• Must be Cameroonian by nationality
• Age:
  • Maximum 30 years for:
    • General practitioners
    • Pharmacists
    • Dental surgeons
    • Veterinary doctors
  • Maximum 35 years for specialist doctors
• Must hold a certificate in a medical specialty useful to the Army (for specialist doctors)
• Must enjoy civil rights
• Must be of good moral character
• Must be in good health

Application File (Required Documents)

Candidates must submit:

• Handwritten application (stamped at 1000 CFA), signed by the candidate, addressed to the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defense
• 1 card folder (file jacket)
• Certified true copy of birth certificate (issued within the last 3 months)
• Certified true copy of required diploma
• Attestation of presentation of the original diploma
• Certified true copy of attestation of success for the first year of higher studies (progression to 2nd year)
• Study program (syllabus)
• Certificate of Cameroonian nationality issued by a magistrate
• Extract of criminal record (bulletin no. 3, issued within the last 3 months by a magistrate)
• Certificate of celibacy
• Medical certificate
• A4 envelope stamped at 500 CFA with the following handwritten details:
  • Full name
  • Date and place of birth
  • Region of origin
  • Division of origin
  • Diploma, language, series, and full address
• Payment receipt of 20,000 CFA francs (exam fee), delivered by the Human Resources Department of the Ministry of Defense
